Don’t Trust Light Mode Developers

My company buys quite a few third-party APIs and tools. So, when a sales person entered the room with light mode code glaring out of their laptop they were not trusted.

That’s true for all you devs who use light mode. You’re not trusted. Here is why.

The Argument For Dark Mode

Light Mode Is Wrong

If you’re the type of person who watches Parasite dubbed there is something wrong with you. Turn the subtitles on.

The same goes for light mode (not the subtitles, that doesn’t make sense for light mode).

The Counter-arguments

Support

Using light mode makes sense since most websites and apps don’t have native dark mode support.

The change between dark and light is very jarring, so make it all light.

Don’t work at night

Developers who use dark mode need to get outside more…during the day.

Conclusion

Do what is best for you and don’t believe anyone who writes anonymously on the Internet.

With that said, there is always time for light mode users to come to the light side. By which I mean dark mode.
