The Secret Developer’s Key to a Great Exercise Routine💪
This blog has exclusive and in-depth access to a crack software developer. The Secret Developer has been pulled away from their keyboard for a short discussion about what foods keep the engine going in the engineer, the Dork in Dvorak.
That one doesn’t even make sense.
Here are The Secret Developer’s 5 favorite foods for getting in exercise in a normal working day:
Early to rise
The Secret Developer works from home and this makes the trip to the office a great opportunity for exercise. After rising at 9:10 (standup is 9:15) They pick up their Apple Watch from the charging stand and confidently march to the foldable desk in the corner of the room.
I’ve started to realise the value of reps. So I make the journey to and from the “office” to bed 5 times. This gives me plenty of time to find last night’s ramen and settle in for our stand up.
Breaks
The Secret Developer is no slouch (apart from slouching on their work chair). When that Apple watch says time to stand, they stand.
It’s the dopamine reward from closing the ring. It’s awesome. I also get in 5 reps sitting and standing. This also makes sure that my standing is recorded as I don’t trust Apple products.
Lunch
The secret developer walks to the kettle to cook instant ramen noodles.
I like to get in 5 reps of walking to the kettle to get those steps in. It’s all for fitness so I don’t mind spending the time to do so.
The nap
Sometimes when I’ve a difficult problem to solve I get into bed and have 5–10 minutes rest. To get more reps in I usually get in 5 or more situps before it’s back to work!
Bedtime
After a long day coding, I make the reverse journey from my morning getup routine. It’s awesome
Conclusion
This whole article is irresponsible and makes people outside the industry feel that we all stay at home and get no exercise. It’s simply not true and a damaging stereotype.
I’ve just done 5 reps of standing up and sitting down. I’m good to go!
